From concept to production: our 8-week prototyping cycle
From the first technical conversation to a part you can mount in your prototype vehicle, we target an 8-week cycle. That target survives because we've broken it down into weeks that each have a single, falsifiable deliverable.
The cycle
- Week 1–2: design freeze + thermal/structural simulation
- Week 3: tooling kickoff for housing and brackets
- Week 4: first article stator + rotor winding
- Week 5: assembly + bench test for first prototype
- Week 6: design review with customer based on bench data
- Week 7: revision + repeat bench test if review found issues
- Week 8: deliver 2–3 final-pre-production units
Eight weeks isn't a marketing number. It's the number we hit because we refuse to start manufacturing tooling before the simulation matches the design intent.

The cycle slips when customers change requirements after Week 2. We try to surface that risk early in the kickoff meeting — better to have one painful week than three slipped ones.
