Inside our cable & harness assembly line
Cable and harness work is where small operational decisions show up directly in the customer's warranty rate. We've spent the last decade tightening ours, and the failure data has followed.
Where we focus
- Crimp validation: every crimp tool is calibrated weekly; pull-test samples come off the line daily, not weekly.
- Routing fixtures: every harness is laid up on a custom board, not free-form. Reduces variation between operators.
- End-of-line continuity testing: 100% of harnesses get an automated continuity + insulation check before shipment.
If you skip the daily pull test, you'll find out about the problem from your customer six months later. The math is brutal.
Production Engineering
What that buys the customer
Field failure rates on our harnesses are an order of magnitude below catalogue parts. That isn't because we use exotic copper — we don't. It's because we trust the boring stuff: daily pull tests, calibrated tools, end-of-line testing on every unit. The boring stuff is what reliability is built from.
